Essay:

Create your digital home

As creative people, we like to share our work with the world.

No matter what it is we like to create, we share to show what we’re passionate about, to get our projects out of their cave, to see how people react to our creations, to inspire others.

Through the years, social media has become the main space to share our creative endeavors.

It’s fairly easy to set up a profile and find alike people. So easy that it’s become the default way of sharing online, even the only one for some.

In its beginnings, social media felt like a place full of opportunity, a place to get inspired by people we liked and their work. A place to share what we created.

But when was the last time social media made you feel…

When these platforms started putting profit over users, selling our attention & our data, we became “content creators” instead of artists, and numbers instead of people.

All of this has turned what was once a clear sky into one clouded with pollution

One could think about moving to different social media platforms.

But we’d still be stuck in someone else’s structure.

It would be like moving from one hotel to another, instead of having a home.

What we need is our own homes.

Our own digital homes.

Our own space, designed and controlled by ourselves.

But what is a digital home?

But what is a digital home?

A digital home is a personal website. But not all personal websites are digital homes.

Digital homes can be much more.

They aren’t just a portfolio, a shop, or a business website.

They aren't like artists' galleries,
they're like their studios.

They aren't like artists' galleries,
they're like their studios.

A digital home is lived-in and ever-changing.

It can be messy, unpolished, slow growing.

It’s a space that’s truly yours. You’re the owner, creator, and inhabitant.

It’s a space that’s truly yours. You’re the owner, creator, and inhabitant.

It holds your personality, and it’s decorated with your own style, as simple or wild as it may be.

You can fill it with anything that brings you joy.
Fill it with all parts of yourself.

Arrange the furniture and discover ideas for your digital home’s content!

They come in your home on their own, out of curiosity, not because an algorithm placed you in front of them.

They could come in and out, leaving no trace.

Or they could wander in, walk around, open doors and linger in a cozy corner.

They might even leave a gift, in the shape of a thoughtful message or a token of appreciation – a comment, an email, a link to your home in their home.

Having your own digital home has many advantages…

Drag the folders around to read them

Full creative freedom over how you present your ideas

A space that’s truly yours. Designed by you, for you

Be fully yourself, without the need to please anyone

You make your own rules

The opportunity to go wide. Display all of you in one place

Freedom

No performance metrics or algorithms. Create for yourself, not for validation

Every piece of your website has the value you choose to give it

No ads, distractions, or doomscrolling

No algorithms, no pressure to keep up

Your work doesn’t disappear into a feed. It stays and evolves

Control

A space to freely experiment, play, and create without pressure

Focus on creating, not performing

It can grow and change with you

The perfect space to express yourself through what excites you

Creating and sharing is fun, not exhausting

Explore and share your ideas deeply and freely, without limits.

Creativity and self-expression

A long-term home for your thoughts, projects, and passions.

Your digital space, your pace, your vision.

Your website is a piece of art in and of itself

Your own universe
